African-American Dr. Nana Afoh-Manin co-founded My CovidMD company with a fellow African-American colleague in California to bring free telehealth to poorer and under-insured people, and to connect them to health resources. On Friday, the company organized a free pop-up testing facility offering antibody blood tests, which show if a person has a current or previous COVID-19 infection. For Afoh-Manin, who also works in the emergency room of a busy Los Angeles hospital, the pandemic highlights long-standing inequalities in access to medical care.
