On Saturday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the government will be allocating over $306 million to assist indigenous businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the funding would be provided through Aboriginal financial institutions, and would allow for indigenous businesses to access short-term, interest-free loans and non-repayable contributions “so they are better positioned to make it through” the virus outbreak.
