Coronavirus outbreak: Toronto introduces fines up to $5,000 in fight against COVID-19
Description
March 25, 2020
Fire Chief & General Manager of Emergency Management for the City of Toronto, Matthew Pegg, said during Wednesday’s briefing the city will begin issuing fines up to $5,000 to individuals who continue to use closed city amenities, such as parks and playgrounds.
The city of Toronto announced Wednesday city parks and playgrounds, among other publicly-owned amenities would close in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
Peg added, the city has issued fines for businesses not compliant with social distancing or closure orders and that Toronto Public Health attended 59 bars and restaurants on Tuesday and issued four warning letters for premises not compliant with prohibitions on dine-in services.
