The land that houses the old Canada Malting Plant is prime property for redevelopment. One local community group wants the site converted into rental housing, with gardens and a daycare. That project will need millions of dollars to get off the ground. The group that owns the land wants to have the zoning changed to include 160 housing units, some low cost housing and a park, and they have already secured the money to make the project go ahead.
