Speaking to reporters on Monday, Dr. Michael Ryan, the Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, told reporters in his opinion, any nation switching their efforts from containing the spread of COVID-19 to mitigating it’s damaging effects would be tantamount to “surrendering” control over the ultimate end-outcome of the virus’ spread.
