Brazil’s health minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta said on Wednesday that they had confirmed the first case case of the COVID-19 virus in the country, diagnosing a 61-year-old man in Sao Paulo who returned from Italy recently. He added they would be watching to see how the virus acted in a “tropical country,” compared to the northern hemisphere where a large majority of cases were.
