During an emergency debate in the House of Commons on Tuesday night, Members of Parliament debated the ongoing railway blockades and other Wet’suwet’en solidarity protests being held in opposition to the Coastal GasLink pipeline in B.C. NDP MP for Winnipeg Centre Leah Gazan said that everyone can agree that “human rights are not a partisan issue” and criticized the government’s framing of the debate surrounding the issue itself.
