Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to criticism over a photo of him with Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was meeting with his Canadian counterpart Francois-Philippe Champagne, saying he went to “impress upon” the importance of working together in order to complete the investigation into the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752. Asked about the smiles seen in photos of the meeting, Trudeau said his promise to Canadians was while working with Iran to get answers, they would hold them to account for the tragedy.
