Firefighters were called to Talwood Court around 8:15 p.m. following an automatic alarm call and found a working fire in the chute, reportedly on the second floor.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire before it could spread and ventilate the building.

Several people were assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation while exiting the building during ventilation.

Tenants were seen outside the building and were outside for just over an hour.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
