2 charged for illegal fishing on Ganaraska River in Port Hope

Two Quebec men face charges for illegal fishing on the Ganaraska River in Port Hope.
On Wednesday, Northumberland OPP were notified around 1:50 p.m. about alleged illegal activity by two anglers.
Police stopped a vehicle on Ontario Street at a gas station and notified the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
Officers discovered 16 salmon and seized a net and fishing rod from the vehicle. One man was charged with transporting illegally caught fish and another with snagging and netting.

Both were issued a summons to appear in court in Cobourg at a future date.
lice stopped the vehicle on Ontario Street at the Petro-Can gas station just prior to the vehicle entering Highway 401 and notified the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officers.
After investigation, the driver was charged with transporting illegally caught fish and a passenger was charged with snagging and netting and were issued a summons to appear in Cobourg Court.
The 16 salmon were seized along with a net and fishing rod.
