Federal Election 2019: Trudeau says becoming MP for Papineau helped him understand reality of racism

Asked if he did not recognize that blackface was racist until around 2008 when he became MP for Papineau, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said becoming a member of parliament helped him understand the “lived reality” that many Canadians face discrimination and racism. Trudeau did not, however, say if he recognized blackface was racist prior to 2008.
