Peterborough Public Health cracking down on vaping and e-cigarettes
Peterborough Public Health is concerned about the number of teens either vaping or using e-cigarettes.
Health promoter Keith Beecroft says parents need to know that many of these items look a lot like lighters and often contain more nicotine than a package of cigarettes.
CLAIRIFICATION MAY 27, 2019:
On May 10, we brought you an interview with health promoter Keith Beecroft of Peterborough Public Health on Global News Morning Peterborough.
The subject of our conversation was vaping and tobacco use.
We want to clarify that the vaping industry is regulated by federal laws which restrict the nicotine content in vaping and e-juice products.
The vaping industry takes the position they DO NOT manufacture, market or sell their products in any way that would be especially appealing to youth, though there is research and evidence to the contrary.
The vaping industry insists their products are meant for adults who want help quitting smoking cigarettes, and strongly condemns
the illegal use of their products by young people under the age of 19.
