Mechanical engineers at UBC Okanagan working to develop better artificial heart valves

The UBC Okanagan School of Engineering is leading the way in artificial heart valve design. Researchers are developing several types of artificial valves and are also creating a synthetic material that could replace animal tissue in the creation of heart valves.
