Social justice advocate on value of “official” recognition of Black History Month

During her 15 years in Peterborough, social justice advocate Charmaine Magumbe as attended many “Black History Month” events. But when the city launched it’s first ever “official” Black History Month on February 1st, the chair of the Community Race Relations Committee of Peterborough witnessed the largest attendance ever at a “Black History Month” event in the city.
As Magumbe to told The Morning Show, while the city’s keys were being presented to jazz singer Ada Lee, the proclamation opened the door to more Black History recognition.
