An American alligator and a snapping turtle are being held in quarantine at Riverview Park and Zoo in Peterborough.

They’ve been there for about 3 months after being rescued from a fire at the Reptile Adventure Camp in Bonfield, Ont., which claimed 70 exotic pets.

On Friday, Kong the turtle returned home. Zoo staff reached out to owner Steve Featherstone to help house the surviving animals after Featherstone lost his housing facilities.

A GoFundme page was started on the behalf of Featherstone to help get his reptile business back on track. He has currently exceeded his goal, with donations nearing $19,000.
