How common-law relationships are not the same as marriage in Alberta

It’s estimated one in ten adults in Alberta live in a common-law relationship and just like with marriage, not all of those relationships will last. However unlike married couples, the guidelines surrounding how property is divided are not as clear. Laura Buckingham, legal counsel with the Alberta Law Reform Institute, joined Erin Chalmers to talk about that and break down some common myths about common-law relationships.
