On Monday, Brazil mourned a fire that destroyed its National Museum, a cherished historical repository that lacked a sprinkler system and was reeling from years of financial neglect. A museum curator told Reuters that she was allowed in to collect what remained of the museum’s meteorite exhibit so the artifacts would not be confused with the charred remains of the building.
