The “virtual kidnapping scam” targets various victims, particularly international post-secondary students. Cases have happened across Canada, with 2 this year in Peterborough. Staff Sgt. Dan MacLean explains how it works and the cost so far , with the hope that awareness will interrupt opportunities for the scammers in this community.
