Slope collapse threat; State of Emergency declared for Okanagan community

A State of Emergency has been declared for the Red Wing retirement resort adjacent to Penticton. There may also be the need for evacuation alerts or orders. It’s because of a possible threat to homes posed by the extraordinary high level of Okanagan Lake. The people at risk live well above, and away, from the lake. But ground water penetration could undermine the land their houses are built on.
