Roberta Bondar carried Canadian hopes, pride into space

It’s been 25 years since Roberta Bondar of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. became Canada’s first female astronaut in space. Global News reported extensively on Bondar’s journey and the Canadian pride that soared with her on the STS-42 mission. Global’s Sean O’Shea reported from Cape Canaveral, Fla. on Jan. 20, 1992 and spoke with former anchor Thalia Assuras.
