New images and sounds recorded by NASA’s Juno spacecraft have revealed never-before-studied details of Jupiter’s morphology. The Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper (JIRAM) on board Juno shows unexpected warm and hot spots in Jupiter’s north and south poles. The images also show a rare glimpse of the planet’s southern aurora, a phenomenon impossible to view from Earth.
