The NDP pressed Minister of National Revenue Diane Lebouthillier in the House of Commons Monday about what steps the government will be taking to crack down on income tax evasion following the recent release of the “Panama Papers”. The Canada Revenue Agency says heightened efforts to fight tax evasion and tax avoidance will recoup $2.6 billion over the next five years.
