Dartmouth woman Catherine ‘Catie’ Miller still missing after 2 weeks
Description
July 31, 2014
HALIFAX - There is still no sign of a Dartmouth woman who has been missing for more than two weeks as police remain baffled by her disappearance.
Catherine Miller, 29, who goes by the name of "Catie", hasn't been heard from since July 15.
She's described as 5'8" and 130 pounds with brown shoulder-length hair that she often wears in a ponytail. She also has pierced ears and grey eyes, according to police.
Halifax Regional Police Const. Tracy MacDonald says it's unlike Miller to not stay in touch with her family.
"They reported her missing to us as a result of them not hearing from her for an extended period of time," he said.
Friends and family have been putting up posters of Miller in her neighbourhood.
[caption id="attachment_1485387" align="aligncenter" width="720"]<a href="http://globalnews.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/catie-miller-missing.jpg"><img src="http://globalnews.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/catie-miller-missing.jpg" alt="An image from a poster for missing Dartmouth woman Catherine Miller." width="720" height="496" class="size-full wp-image-1485387" /></a> An image from a poster for missing Dartmouth woman Catherine Miller.[/caption]
Liberal MLA Joachim Stroink has also offered up his constituency office to the family, where more posters are being printed for distribution across the province.
"Yesterday, a friend of the family came in with some plastic covers for [the posters]," said Stroink's assistant Debbie Petrie. "A lady came in this morning and she picked up most of those to take on a trip down to Cape Breton. She's leaving tomorrow and she'll be posting those at every pit stop between here and Baddeck."
Stroink has also offered up some office space, including a boardroom and a meeting room, for any other needs.
"We're opening that up to whoever needs to use it in the search for her," Petrie said. "It's important because people sometimes just need a place to gather and talk about things."
Police say they don't have a lot to go on in their search, but they have been checking recent phone calls and investigating other leads.
"At this point we don't suspect foul play and it's still continuing on as a missing person's file," said MacDonald. "It is alarming and again we encourage anyone who may know her whereabouts to give us a call or give Crime Stoppers a call."
A <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/findcatiemiller/" target="_blank">Facebook group called "Find Catherine Miller"</a> has started, and already more than 2,300 members.
