French actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot has died at the age of 91. She rocketed to international stardom in the 1950s and quickly became a symbol of French sexuality and femininity. Bardot was also a polarizing figure — she was criticized for her far-right views and was fined repeatedly for inciting racial hatred. Redmond Shannon looks back at Bardot’s life.
