A major highway through Abbotsford begins to reopen as flood waters recede. After the Sumas Prairie was flooded in 2021, the federal government promised infrastructure upgrades to mitigate future weather events, but local leaders say the feds have failed to follow through on those pledges. With flooding top of mind as waters remain high on the Sumas Prairie, some experts say returning the agricultural land to its natural state may be the best course of action moving forward.
