Ahead of a two-day visit to India on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin defended India’s right to buy Russian oil, despite pressure from the U.S. for India not to. Though the Republican leader has expressed a desire to mitigate funding for Moscow’s war effort in Ukraine, Putin argued that “the U.S. still buys nuclear fuel from us for its own nuclear power plants,” asking, “Why shouldn’t India have the same privilege?”
