Two long-standing community centre arenas in the Peterborough region are getting major upgrades--- thanks to nearly $2 million in provincial funding In Ennismore on Friday morning, Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith announced more than $930,000 dollars to replace the aging 54-year-old ice pad at the Ennismore Community Centre. Another $1 million will replace the 45-year-old floor at the Douro-Dummer Community Centre. The money will come from the provincial government's "Community Sport and Recreaction Infrastructure Fund," the same program backing a recently-announced baseball diamond upgrade at Morrow Park in Peterborough. Smith says the $200-million fund received $1.8 billion in requests from Ontario communities, and that Selwyn's application was strong enough to stand out.
