During an interview on Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom called U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy California National Guard units to Los Angeles in response to anti-ICE demonstrations “Orwellian.” Newsom characterized Trump’s decision as “an illegal act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act” and directly addressed Trump at one point, asking “where’s your decency, Mr. President?”
