Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem said Wednesday that the “economy is softer, but not sharply weaker,” as it held its key interest rate steady at 2.75 per cent. Macklem said the U.S. trade conflict “remains the biggest headwind facing the Canadian economy,” but its impact “remains uncertain.”
