Julie Kim has been doing standup comedy for more than a decade. But before she hit the stage, opened for Ronny Chieng, and long before she wrote jokes for Simu Liu, Julie was a PhD student studying engineering and health technology. Global's Sophie Lui sat down to chat with Julie about her surprising career change, growing up above her parents' convenience store, and what her husband and daughter think of being the subject of her punchlines.
