At a press conference at the White House on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed the idea of pausing tariffs, saying he was putting America first. In response to China’s 34 per cent counter tariff he said, “If that tariff isn’t removed by tomorrow at 12 o’clock, we’re putting a 50 percent tariff on above the tariffs that we put on.”
