NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, during a campaign stop in Toronto on Friday, announced that the NDP would take action to stop corporate landlords from purchasing affordable housing and raising rents. Singh called the practice predatory, citing Brookfield Investments as an example of companies profiting off hardworking Canadians. The NDP leader promised to ban the practice and end government handouts to corporations that exploit renters.
