Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park on Wednesday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford disputed U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that the tumultuous events of Tuesday represented a win for the United States, saying such a statement was just “playing politics.” Ford also said United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick was the one who reached out to him to offer an “olive branch” on the ongoing issue of U.S. import tariffs.
