After a day of escalating threats that started with U.S. President Donald Trump saying steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada will go up to 50 per cent — in response to Ontario’s decision to impose a 25 per cent tariff on electricity imports to the U.S. — Trump complimented Doug Ford calling him a “strong man” after Ontario’s premier dropped the electricity charge. Asked if he’d make a different decision on Canada’s tariffs following the move, Trump said “Now, I’m looking at that, but probably, so, yeah.”
