On Friday, Rafael Caro Quintero and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes – leaders of notorious Mexican drug cartels – were arraigned at a New York City court. Caro Quintero, 72, pleaded not guilty to federal drug trafficking charges filed in Brooklyn in 2020 – which could result in his execution if he is determined responsible. Fuentes, 62, also entered a not guilty plea in a separate indictment.
