Vancouver mayor unveils new plan to fight organized crime in Downtown Eastside

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim unveiled Task Force Barrage at a press conference on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 aimed at cracking down on organized crime in the city’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood. Sim says the plan includes bringing together departments from across the city including police, firefighters, bylaw officers, sanitation crews and city engineers.
