A federal judge has issued a ruling blocking Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing the personal and financial data of millions of Americans, citing the potential for “irreparable harm.” U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer in Manhattan issued the order after a coalition of 19 mostly Democratic-led U.S. states filed a lawsuit late Friday arguing Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has no legal power to access the U.S. Department of Treasury systems.
