Wizard of Oz ruby slippers sell for record $28M at auction

Judy Garland’s iconic ruby-red slippers from The Wizard of Oz sold for a record $28 million at auction over the weekend, far surpassing their expected sale price of around $3 million. The footwear — one of four known surviving pairs from the movie — will ultimately cost the yet-to-be-publicly-identified winner $32.5 million after auction house fees.
