Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre responded Thursday to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s promise of a “GST Holiday” for Canadians, calling the announcement a “tax trick.” Poilievre said the temporary break on the Goods and Services Tax on a slew of everyday items “would not make up for the permanent quadrupling carbon tax on heat, housing, food and fuel.”
