China’s foreign ministry on Thursday called for a China-United States relationship to be one of “mutual respect” where differences can be “properly” managed. The response came to a question at a briefing that asked confirmation of whether Chinese president Xi Jinping had called or messaged U.S. president-elect Donald Trump.
