Quebec filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has made a major donation to the Cinéma du Parc, an independent Montreal movie theatre. The donation comes at a time when many independent theatres in Canada are struggling. The “Dune” director attended the official unveiling of the theatre’s $1.4-million makeover, where he spoke to Global’s video journalist Sylvain Trudeau and explained the importance of funding local cinemas.
