Minister of National Defence Bill Blair said on Thursday that the federal government has been “preparing” and is “ready to respond” to a potential evacuation of Canadian citizens in Lebanon if needed, through the deployment of Canadian Armed Forces in the region. “We are working very closely with the Lebanese government,” Blair said. “We all have an interest in protecting our innocent civilians who may be engaged in conflict — should it occur.”
