The Bank of Canada (BoC) cut its benchmark interest rate by a quarter of a percentage on Wednesday, putting it at 4.5 per cent. BoC governor Tiff Macklem hinted at the potential of further cuts and assured Canadians that they will now “have more income for other things” following a particularly strained economic period.
