An evacuation order has been issued for the town of Jasper and Jasper National Park following a wildfire that broke out late Monday night. According to Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis, the fire is approximately 12 km south of Jasper on both sides of the river. Meanwhile, there are an estimated 17,500 evacuees across the province due to other out-of-control wildfires. He warned that the situation may worsen due to the wind and emphasized the importance of preparing to leave your home, whether you’re near an affected area or not.
