Thursday marked a historic day for Canada, as Lt.-Gen. Jennie Carignan officially took over command of the Canadian Armed Forces from Lt.-Gen Wayne Eyre — making her the first female to assume the role of Chief of the Defence Staff. Commemorating the event, Ottawa held a Change of Command ceremony at the Canadian War Museum, where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke, along with Eyre and Carignan.
