Ten high school graduates entering into skilled trade apprenticeship programs are getting a helping hand from the Peterborough District Masonic Association.
The fraternity held a ceremony at the Masonic Temple on Saturday to present $1,000 bursaries.
Typically, each year, Masonic District deputy grand masters select a charity project.
Here in Peterborough, a program was set up to offer the bursaries disbursed through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Staff at seven public and three Catholic schools with skilled trades courses selected the winners based on their skills and attitudes.
The Masons raised more than $20,000 for this project.
