During question period in the House of Commons on Monday, NDP MP Heather McPherson called out Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly and the Liberal party for not taking action against Israel amid the country’s ongoing conflict in Gaza, despite “promising to do so three months ago.” McPherson said that “the Liberals won’t act to stop a genocide,” to which Joly replied by saying that Canada “fully supports” the ceasefire proposal outlined by U.S. President Joe Biden last week.
