Det. David Jaciuk of Durham Regional Police’s financial crimes unit said Thursday that the self-proclaimed “Crypto King,” Aiden Pleterski, could be facing a maximum of 14 years behind bars after being charged with fraud over $5,000. “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is,” said Jaciuk of financial promises fraudsters often make. Pleterski faces even more time in jail for a charge of laundering proceeds of crime.
