Gene variant causes 15-20% of Alzheimer’s cases: Study

For the first time, researchers in Barcelona, Spain have found that people who have two copies of the APOE4 gene are virtually guaranteed to develop Alzheimer’s disease when they are older. Nivrita Ganguly spoke to Dr. Juan Fortea, who led this study, to find out what this means for early detection and prevention of the mind-robbing disease.
