In this extended clip from a Global News special, Dr. Maged Bakhet, an obstetrician-gynecologist, calls for direct action to address what he calls a disaster waiting to happen in the maternity ward at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He says they were in a crisis 20 years ago, and the city is not catching up. Bakhet says the city needs an entirely new maternity ward and is shocked the new hospital, set to be built in Cloverdale, won’t have one.
